So you stop explaining it one by one

OperationsAccounts

Anyone running a server for other people ends up with rules. How much may someone request, how long do titles stay, who do you message when something is stuck. Right now those live on a Discord pin, in a voice note, or nowhere at all. And whoever does not know them requests things you then turn down by hand.

What is coming

  • Text you write yourself. An editor in the settings, toolbar on the left, finished view on the right. Headings, lists, quotes, images. What you type shows up beside it straight away.
  • A § in the bottom corner. Your people see a round button with a dot on it, the same way the bell works. Click, read, tick it off. After that the button is gone and the text sits in the footer next to “About”.
  • When you save, you decide whether everyone reads it again. A typo bothers nobody. A real new rule brings everyone back, through a checkbox at save time. Beside it, what that does: “The button reappears for all 14 accounts.”
  • Images come from your own install only. Nexview will not display an external address. Otherwise every view of the house rules would report your people's IP address to somebody else's server.
  • User administration shows who acknowledged it. A column with a date, or a dash.
  • Child accounts are left out. They request nothing and take up no room. They see neither the button nor the link.

What it is not

Nobody gets locked out. There is no dialog at sign-in you have to dismiss first, and the button stops no one. Anyone who wants to ignore the rules still can. They just cannot claim they never found them.
